As many of you know I am on the Worcester Women's Leadership Conference Committee. This year I am chairing the scholarship/mentorship program for select young women, who are juniors and attending the Worcester Public Schools. I would love to see this go to students who don't normally have an opportunity to have a mentor. The mentors will be a diversed group of women. There will be two mentor sessions at the conference designed with the students in mind. One is a panel and the other is a networking workshop. There are still tickets available for the conference. The application and information is below: The Worcester Women’s Leadership Conference (WWLC) Committee would like to offer 10 juniors from the Worcester Public School System conference admittance to the 2019 Worcester Women’s Leadership Conference and a professional mentor for one year. The Goal: To help female students with their journey to college and begin to expand their network and leadership skills. What is the scholarship: Admission (value $195.00) to the Worcester Women’s Leadership Conference being held on April 11, 2019 from 7:30am - 4:15pm, at the DCU Center, along with an additional monetary scholarship (amount to be determined) given at the conference to the first place winner. Recipients must attend the 2019 conference. Of the 10 scholarship winners, the top submissions will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The first place winner will have their video shown throughout the day of the conference and will be awarded the monetary scholarship given at the end of the conference. All 10 scholarship videos will be available for viewing on WWLC website. (Worcesterwomenleadership.com) What is the mentorship program: Mentors and mentees will be paired based on their applications, videos, and career path. Mentors are all professionals and participating on a volunteer basis. Mentors and mentees will be required to attend one of the mentorship-focused workshops (either morning or afternoon). Following the conference, mentors and mentees are encouraged to check in with each other once a month for a one year term. To qualify for this scholarship the students must:
If you know a junior who would benefit from this program. Please pass this on. I am going to add it to salon website as well. If you are interested in being a mentor contact me and I will send the information for that. Mentors are required to attend the conference.
